We’ve had the Zenfone 3 Zoom for over a week now and we’ve taken it places just to test out every feature that it boasts of. After all, this is a dualcamera phone that has 12x and a depth of field feature that gives you a better image.
Let’s talk about the Zenfone 3 Zoom in detail and see what it has to offer.
Manly. This was the first thought that came to mind when we saw the no-nonsense look of the Zenfone 3 Zoom. The one we got was in black and had a sophisticated finish to it.
Zenfone 3 Zoom combined the industry’s best smartphone-camera technologies and innovative dual-lens optics with its ƒ/1.7 SONY IMX362 sensor and 2.3x optical zoom camera, Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S625 processor and ASUS SuperPixel™ Engine and its 5000mAh battery. The upshot is unparalleled smartphone photography ready to capture every scenario, the moment you need. Catch the Moment — ZenFone 3 Zoom.
The speakers though confined to one side is clear and crisp. Even with maxed out sound, it does not break which is good because no one likes audio that is weak. ZenFone 3 Zoom has SonicMaster and High-Res Audio certification. With an advanced five-magnet speaker construction, metal voice coil and expansive sound chamber powered by an NXP Smart AMP, you’ll enjoy powerful, emotional audio in every scenario. When it’s time for immersive listening, plug in your favorite compatible headphone or earbuds and experience true High-Res Audio quality everywhere you go with ZenFone 3 Zoom’s studio-grade 24-bit/192kHz playback — that’s 4x better than CD quality.
With 5000MaH, the Zenfone 3 Zoom is very impressive when it comes to battery life. With WiFi and heavy usage, it lasted more than 2 days. With data usage, 1.5 days. Powerful and easy to charge as well. Just make sure you have your Type C USB with you at all times.
A 12 megapixel ƒ/1.7 aperture, wide-angle lens with ASUS SuperPixel™ Technology is primed to capture everyday scenes, especially in dark environment; and a 12 megapixel 2.3x optical zoom for high-quality close-ups from farther away. Switching between ZenFone 3 Zoom’s dual cameras takes just an instant, and the combination enables an all-new depth-of-field effect. Have a look at the photos below and decide if it’s good enough. All photos are raw.
This was something though that we felt may need more improvement. We felt that it was a little saturated and too IG ready (meaning immediately filtered photos) but this could be just us and there are points where the zoom is not as sharp as we wanted it to be. However, these are very minor opportunities and the video aspect more than makes up for everything.
Now THIS! The camera is so steady it feels like we were using a stabilizer when in fact this was all held by hand alone. Amazing job with the video on this one ASUS.
Overall we are pretty pleased with the Zenfone 3 Zoom. The dual cam really comes in handy but we have to say that it’s the speakers and the video that really did it for us at PSST. It’s just awesome and for these two aspects alone, we’d have to say that you need to go and buy this new baby from ASUS when it hits the stores this coming April.
