This year’s Tri United Exceed Long Distance is a race designed as one of the toughest triathlon races in the country. The race course was made even tougher with greater and more challenging routes exceeding the distance of its predecessor Tri United Exceed Standard earlier this year. The 2K swim / 60K bike / 15K run was held in Subic Bay, July 2, Sunday.
Triathletes were pushed beyond their limits exceeding the usual course distance for Ironman 70.3 and 5150 Triathlon. Tri United Exceed Long Distance is, in fact, a training race for athletes gearing up for Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines on August 6, 2017 in Mactan, Cebu.
In the male elite category, it was a victory for Paul Jumamil from team RIDER OMEGA PRO TRI finishing first with his 31:29 swim, 1:40:19 bike, 2:34 T2, 29:01 6Km, and 1:15:18 run (total 3:33:29). ACTIVEHEALTH’s Benjamin Rana finished strong on the second place with 3:36:57 on the clock while CAMSUR TRI TEAM’s Billy Biag snatched third place with his 3:46:53 time.
Meanwhile, in the team competition category, last year’s second placer RIDER OMEGA PRO TRI TEAM accumulated a total time of 38:30:49 securing them a first place. Team Sante Barley finished second with a total time of 39:01:19. Third team with a quick finish was FITNESS FIRST with a total time of 39:24:11.
Following the Ironmn 70.30 Philippines in August will be another Bike King’s Duathlon Race on August 20 at Alviera, Porac, Pampanga; Aboitiz Tri2017 on September 2 to be held at Pico de Loro Cove at Hamilo Coast; and SunLife Aquathlon on September 17 at Makati Aqua Swim Arena, University of Makati.
