Did you know that there’s a sweet story behind the food app Booky? Whenever Ben Wintle, Booky’s founder and creator and Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado were on dates there were times they find it hard to book dinner reservations or find a restaurant that take advance order. Iza finds this very frustrating so Ben decided to create an app for this dilemma, thus Booky was born.
Established in 2014, ‘Booky,’ is a local food app developed by Scrambled Eggs Software Inc., and since then it has quickly risen to become the best-known platform for dining reservations and discounts in the Philippines.
To date there are now over 800 Booky restaurant partners across Metro Manila and by Q3 this year, they hope to partner with other stores nationwide. What makes Booky different from other platform is that the food app works offline which is good news for foodies who have slow or next to nothing internet connection.
Booky is not only the biggest platform that offers discounts to diners, last June 1, 2017 Booky reached another milestone as the company officially launched the ‘All-New Booky’—a version of the app presenting a revamped interface and a new major feature which is the digital Buy One Get One (BOGO) coupons. The launch was held at Unit 27 Apartment Bar + Cafe in Taguig and was graced by Booky Ambassadors Ms. Iza Calzado and Karryle.
With BOGO, diners can now enjoy two items for the price of one with top establishments such as Seattle’s Best Coffee, Auntie Anne’s, and Happy Lemon. (See more brands in the list below) More brands will be added weekly according to Wintle.
Aiming to reach the fastest growing consumer category, Booky created BOGO digital coupon and in just a few weeks it has managed to equal if not surpassed the success of one of its features, the booking system with casual dining restaurants.
What user simply need to do is to download the app and swipe to claim the coupon upon ordering at the partner restaurant. Its strong positive impact is already evident as redemption for coupons are increasing by up to 50% week on week. Combining both table bookings and buy one get one redemption, Booky users now save an average of Php 1600 on restaurant bills every month. Diners have also been sharing their experiences on Instagram with the hashtag #bookytwinning, showing their two-for-one deals.
During the official launch Ben Wintle said, “We have always strived to be real innovators that deliver tangible value to Filipinos. There’s still a lot of work ahead of us as we add new partners and continuously improve our service to restaurants and consumers. The most important ingredient in all of this is keeping our attitude of wanting to be better.
ew Booky users can download the app on iOS and Android and may subscribe for free to enjoy Php 1000 worth of restaurant savings. After the free trial, users may continue enjoying unlimited savings and monthly freebies at over 800 Booky Partner Restaurants for only Php 199 per month.
