Yangzhou Fried Rice, also named Yeung Chow or Yang Chow Fried Rice, is a popular rice dish that has been recorded to originate from China in the city of Yangzhou, Jiangsu province as early as Spring and Autumn Period (770 – 476 BC). It is made from cold cooked rice, shrimp, spring or green onions, carrots, peas, corn, bamboo shoots, eggs, bits of sea cucumber, crab meat, etc. Some Western and Asian countries cook their very own versions of Yang Chow Fried Rice by putting soy sauce, butter, or adding more meat like chicken and pork.
