Spotlight with Danielle Colby of The Pickers

Danielle Colby was born in Davenport, Iowa, United States of America and was brought up as a Jehovah’s Witness. In 2004, she was married with two children.

American Pickers premiered on History, formerly known as the History Channel, on January 18, 2010. As of September 8, 2010, it was one of the top rated non-fiction series of 2010.

HistoryCon 2017 in the Philippines made another milestone by exceeding the number of exhibitors ,celebrities both locals, foreigners and visitors. There are estimates that between 68,000 to 70,000 people went to the 4 day convention.  Part of this year’s program was meet and greet with History channel celebrities .

Dekada Historycon Auction which was held on August 12, 2017 at the World Trade Center, Lot number 119 with starting bid of Php 3,000 was eventually sold for Php 10,000 !

Lot 119 was a 12 karat gold tambourine earrings from late 18th century from Laoag ,Ilocos Norte province . This was the first item that was auction-off. Ms. Danielle Colby was the winner of the item.

Danielle Colby is also a fashion designer. She even owns her own clothing boutique that features antique-inspired and retro appeals called ‘4 Miles 2 Memphis’, most of them were designed and created by her.

Interview with Ms. Danielle Colby 

1.) What is the weirdest stuffs Frank and Mike bought in Antique Archaeology whether on and o the camera?

Answer: The weirdest stuffs was an odd casket with human remains inside. We did not buy the stuff for ethical reasons.

2.) How many inks/ tattoo do you have? What is your favorite? 

Answer: I have visited over 10 tattoo artists and I do not have an idea on how many tattoos. Some are big and some are small ones. Maybe 100? i got a Mexican artist Frida Kahlo tatoo in one of my arm.

3.) Why the suit of armor tattoo ?

Answer: All of us are interwoven and this showed the female strength.

4.) What is your favorite collectible items?

Answer: I collect vintage, side show, striptease, burlesque, circus , theater costumes. They are the underbelly, undercurrent and not usually save of our culture.  Mata hari type of dress and Frida Kahlo item are some items.

5.) What collectible items are popular ?

Answer: It depends on the person their passion and interest may vary. Some of the  collected items are motorcycle, toys, jewelries, house ware items, postcards.

6.) What are you most passionate about? 

Answer: Aside from collecting, I am passionate about travelling , learning new things and more awareness. I have been in the Philippines for about 1 week and we toured Greenhills where there are a lot of stuffs.

I have traveled Canada, Vietnam, Mexico, France, Puerto Rico, Indonesia and several states in the US.

7.) What place in the United States do you think you can find a great cache of collectibles?

Answer: I think it is the East Coast , particularly New York. The place had a lot of old places and collectors, But they are not cheap stuffs. Another possible area is the Mid-West states.

8.) What is your message to the your fans in the Philippines? 

Answer: I would like to ” Thank” the writers for wonderfully crafted questions, I would extend to “Thank” the people for their hospitality and welcoming attitude.
