The Philippine Ballet Theatre one of the resident company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is now celebrating the 30th season with a great classic ballet.
The Philippine Ballet Theatre also know as PBT has mounted full-length ballet such as Swan Lake, Son Quixote, The Merry Widow, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Esmeralda, Raymond’s, Coppelia, Carmina and Burana, Andres KKK and Darangan at Bantugen and many others. Several bee ballet productions are currently in progress.
For its 30th season, PBT present the Great Classic (July 29-31), Filipino Masterpieces (September 23-25) and The Nutcracker (November 11-13). As part of CCP’s first Dance Manila Festival (July 14-26) – a unique and happy collaboration of PBT, Ballet Philippines and Ballet Manila – PBT company members will be dance in the “Winners Gala”, Giselle ( A Tribute to co-founder Tita Radiac) , PBT @ 30 – an invitational open rehearsal, and the Filipino Gala.

Critics have described PBT’s performances as “bold,brave and beautiful” and “thoroughly delightful and enchanting.” Its repertoire continues to “dazzle and amaze” various audiences with its distinct and poetic delicacy and refined sophistication. Many positive performance reviews exist, such as that of arts critic Rosalinda Orosa “… numbers were uniformly well-created and smoothly executed; the danseurs displayed solid technique while also providing the ballerinas with dependable partnering.Miming was consistently clear and eloquent.”
PBT’ goal include the preservation of the rich and elegant classical full-length ballets, the launching of cutting-edge contemporary works and the commissioning of Filipino heritage masterpieces that bring to the forefront the extraordinary talent of Filipinos artist, not only as dancers but as choreographers. PBT discovers and supports talented youth with training through scholarships from the generous support of sponsors and donors.
The company is composed of young talented ballet dancers from all walks of life who choose performing arts as a career, performing to bring honor and prestige to the country. Audiences have witnessed the extraordinary artistry of the company through its performances in many parts of our archipelago and aside from that PBT also represented the Philippines in festivals and performance abroad including USA, Mexico, Spain Morocco and Southeast Asia.
