Metro Manila foodies have been hailing Paradise Dynasty’s xiao long bao as one of the best, if not THE best in the city. Seeing – and tasting – their Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao (8 flavors), this is well-deserved praise. From the delicate skin to the 18 careful folds that trap all the flavors inside, Paradise Dynasty’s xiao long bao are little pockets of heartwarming soup and meat dumplings.
There is a technique to eating the 8-flavor xiao long bao in order to maximize the experience – first eat the mildest flavor to the strongest to enjoy each dumpling. In order, you should try the original flavor, followed by ginseng, foie gras, black truffle, cheesy, crab roe, garlic and lastly, the szechuan xiao long bao. If you mean to share, best get each flavor in sets of either 6 or 10.
However, beyond their delicious xiao long bao, Paradise Dynasty also has a wide selection of dishes to complement and contrast this soup dumpling. for appetizers, try the Steamed Glutinous Rice Stuffed in Red Date, a surprisingly delicious combination that balances and maximizes the sweetness of both. Another must-try is the radish pastry, a croissant-like bread that is mild and flaky.
Paradise Dynasty also has Scrambled Egg White with Fish and Conpoy, a delicately-flavored soup made from scrambled egg white with its yolk on top. This is a silky and creamy soup that serves as a nice palate-cleanser.
After the delicate flavors of the xiao long bao and the soup, you can try some of their chili dishes. One of these is their Dimsum Pork Dumpling, which comes with hot chili vinaigrette. The mildly-flavored dumpling paired with the spicy and slightly sour vinaigrette enhances the umami flavor of the meat.
The Poached Beef in Szechuan Chili Oil is a big bowl of chili in a beef broth. While this is spicy-hot, it goes well with their Shanghai Fried Rice.
Perhaps one of the spiciest dishes on the menu, the Spicy Szechuan Crispy Chicken, are chicken lying on a bed of cili and nuts. For chili lovers, this is a must-order. However, when eaten alone without the chilies, the chicken only has a mild kick.
