Must Follow Filipino Hair and Makeup Artists

Instagram today is no longer just a photo sharing application. Over the years it has transformed to a platform for online shopping, short videos, inspirational quotes, memes, brand/product promotion, and many more. It is an app widely used especially by the beauty community apart from YouTube. If you’re an enthusiast or a freelancer, look at your “following” list – if you don’t have any local HMUAs well I got you covered. Here are some Filipino hair and makeup artists that are worth stalking, in Instagram of course.

Dino Lazaro

Dino is a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Cherry Gil, Barbie Forteza, Rochelle Pangilinan, LJ Reyes, and Carla Abellana. This talented celebrity makeup artist does not only beat a woman’s face but also knows how to do men’s. Make sure to check out @dinolazaro.

Say Santayana

She is probably one of the first few, if not the very first Filipino makeup artist I ever followed. Aside from her regular makeup gigs, she also sells brushes (mostly SIGMA) and regularly conducts beauty workshops. Wanting to learn the basics of makeup application without burning a hole in your pocket? Follow her two instagram accounts @coloretebysay @saysantayanamakeup and watch out for her next workshop. I’m sure you’d be walking out with a big grin after learning tricks and receiving Say’s immaculately white, customized COLORETE starter brush set.

Mickey See

Liza Soberano and Jolina Magdangal are just some of the familiar faces you’d see in his instagram @mickeysee. Pauleen Luna looked exceptionally stunning during her wedding thanks to him. He is truly on top of his game, trusted by the showbiz industry’s biggest stars. In fact recognized Mickey as one of the most in-demand makeup artists of 2015.

Marla Sabio

Although mostly doing bridal makeup, she is well-rounded and can execute a look for any given occasion. This UST CFAD Alum not only does wonderful makeup, but also writes beautiful Calligraphy. One thing that I personally like about Marla is that she’s not selfish. She actually answers inquiries on her instagram account about items she used and any other queries her followers might have. Head on over to her account @makeupbymarla and don’t be afraid to shoot a question.

Jan Endrosalan

A “combo” is someone who can do hair or makeup and be excellent on both. Jan is one of those artists. He is a sought-after HMUA who has showcased his skill for several magazine spreads and has worked with the likes of Stephanie Kienle Gonzalez, Wyn Marquez, Ayen Laurel, Ms. USA Olivia Jordan, and 2016 Ms. Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. View more of his work at @janbenj13.

Juan Sarte III

Looking clueless after reading his name means there’s no doubt that you’ve been living under a rock or maybe in a cave. He is crème de la crème here in the Philippines. Put it this way: if King Midas was a makeup artist he would have been Mr. Sarte. Currently with 114k followers this man’s body of work is truly amazing. If you’ve ever wondered who’s making Maine Mendoza, Kris Aquino, Lea Salonga, Marian Rivera, Iza Calzado, and other celebrities look breathtaking, follow his instagram @juansarte.
