Must-have essential oils on the road

Perhaps many of us have a limited grasp on how essential oils work.  For those who haven’t tried them yet, they may say essential oils are just a fad.  But for others who have used them, they may be too excited to discover the oils’ many uses for wellness, overall health, and cleanliness.

Essential oils are called as such because they literally are ultra-concentrated essences of plants. Once extracted, the oil can be inhaled, absorbed, and some, ingested.  They are so powerful because they are highly concentrated, containing the plant’s healing nutrients and other components.  And when applied to human skin, they carry the same healing force, even going through the cellular walls of the body.  Thus make them an effective alternative to heal, disinfect, and cleanse.

It is for this reason, too, that many relied on essential oils for various purposes.  Some use them to stay focused, get a good night’s sleep, and relieve them from occasional stress.

One can easily blend essential oils and once he saw the positive effect, all the more he is eager to discover more blends.  They are also very handy, making them easy to bring and use during travel.   The following are just a few of the must-have essential oils while on the road.

Citronella oil

Citronella is known to repel the hazardous mosquito species Aedes aegypti which is capable of spreading dengue fever.  To make your own insect repellent spray, just add a few drops of citronella essential oil in a spoonful of any carrier oil of your choice.  Then spray or massage it like a lotion on exposed skin.  When you stay in hotels, you may also dab or spray on the beddings and curtains.

Lavender

Lavender is known for its calming and soothing effect.  This makes Lavender essential oil as perfect for airplane takeoffs and landings and turbulent ship.    To alleviate motion sickness, a drop of Lavender behind the ears would do the magic.  Or you may opt to rub a drop of Lavender oil on your palm or tissue then inhale it gently.  This is also ideal to calm overexcited kids.

Lemon or citrus

Lemon or citrus essential oil is an excellent air freshener and deodorizer.  If you find your hotel room kinda musty, just spritz a lemon or citrus essential oil diffused in your carrier oil of choice.

A few drops of it into the toilet before using would also give you a happier and a more fresh ambiance.

Jet lags can be a real pain.  Refresh after a jet lag with Lemon essential oil.  You may inhale it from the bottle or add a drop on a tissue paper and place it under your nose and smell it.

Lemon is also perfect to support the digestive system so a drop or two on your water will help settle any stomach problem.  Just make sure the Lemon you will use is good for intake.  Check its vitality sign.

Peppermint

Peppermint always leaves a clean and minty aroma. It improves concentration and mental sharpness, thus very helpful to keep you focused on the road especially during long drives.
