MERALCO Holds 2nd K-Ligtas Awards

There is no doubt that one of the most important inventions of mankind is electricity. It provides so many comforts and it would feel like the world stopped spinning whenever we experience power stoppage. Amidst this comfort are the tireless people who ensure our safety as we enjoy the perks of having electricity.

We often forget that there are those who make our lives safe in this ever-changing world. Ensuring safety is an act of heroism that is often overlooked; it is an act as important as quick emergency response. Taking into consideration everything, safety and risk management can protect human lives and business assets in the long run, and make operations and services more efficient.

Utilities giant MERALCO believes in the promotion of best practices particularly in electrical safety. In 2016, they created an advocacy program through the Meralco Power Academy named, K-Ligtas Awards. It is the country’s first award for institutions; celebrating the unsung heroes of our society such as the organizations and businesses that uphold electrical safety excellence and promoting safety in the workplace.

Last November 17, 2017, they held the second K-Ligtas Awards, in time for the largest gathering of Electrical Engineers during the 2017 Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) Annual Convention and Expo. The event was held at SMX Convention, Pasay. K-Ligtas Awards 2017 is bigger and bolder this year with its wider search, producing a bigger number of nominees and each of them undergoing more stringent assessment by seasoned professional industry practitioners.
