Have you heard that living life is like sipping a glass of wine? You swirl and smell it first. Then as you sip it, you let the wine sit in your mouth for a few seconds. Others would even swish the wine around his mouth as if using a mouthwash.
Living a charmed and happy life is like sipping a glass of wine. As life has its own pace, it is best not to rush everything. Just like how we taste our wine, we savor its sweetness and let it linger in our tongue and even in our memory.
Sadly, many of us do not treat life the way it deserves to be treated. We sleep late and rush in the morning. We hurry our meal and even skip it if we find time isn’t on our side. While we are still engaged in one activity, our thoughts are on our next responsibility. We juggle commitments as if we are always running against time. We miss the very fine details of each experience because we are always in haste.
This 2018, slow down. Savor each moment as it is through appreciating each time that we will feel its impact.
To catch up with every plan we make for the day, we need to do less. We need to be realistic and practical, only including in our plan those we could truly give attention.
As we think we have a dozen things to do in a day, prioritize those that would truly make a difference. Concentrate on the task that needs our attention. Surely, we would feel less pressured having our full attention on one task at a time.
Perhaps at first, we may find it too difficult to do things one at a time. We are so used to multi-tasking and the pressure it gives. But the pleasure of accomplishing something in the calmest way can be addicting too. May we give it a chance to breathe into the moment and savor each task.
Just like how we try to enjoy a glass of wine, we sip it slowly and savor its taste. Sometimes, we even close our eyes, smile, and pause. We could do that, too, while we live life.
This 2018, PSST.ph wishes you a calm yet prosperous 2018. Don’t forget to savor each memory and appreciate its very details.
