Tell me something about yourself that people don’t know:
Meron akong fear of heights, takot ako sa butiki.
What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview?
Hahaha.
When did you first know you wanted to become an stage actor?
What was the first show you ever did? And how was the experience?
We did “Solemn Hour” way back 2011 ata. So we are doing onstage and backstage assignments at the same time.
What has been your favorite role so far?
Helena ng Pangarap sa Isang Gabi ng Gitnang Tag-araw.
Have you ever played someone of the opposite gender? (If not do you want to try it?) What was that like?
Definitely, YES!
What show/shows are you currently working on?
On-going ang rehearsals ng EURYDICE. We open on February 17, 2017.
Have you ever forgotten your lines, or a prop, or choreography during a performance? What happened?
Yeah! Hahahaha. Maraming shows na.
What is something that you know now that you wish you knew when you were first starting out as an actor?
Siguro yung analysis ng play and character.
Besides acting, what other training have you had (voice, dance, stage combat, etc.)?
As part of our training in Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company we have voice, dance, and script analysis class for free.
How do they memorize alot of lines?
Part ng process ko as an actor, nirerecord ko sa phone yung lines. Haha.
If you could choose, what three actors would you really want to work with?
As a young actor, mas exciting for me makipagtrabaho sa mga experienced actors na matagal na sa industry kasi you will learn so much from them.
Why do you think theater is important?
Theater is important because it cultivates CHANGE.
Why do you think so many aspiring actors end up giving up on their dreams?
And I think yung pressure din sa family to earn.
What is something embarrassing or unexpected that happened to you on stage?
Kahit pa makalimot ako ng lines or ano pa man. Ang importante you’re “in the moment”.
What are some of the greatest fears you think actors/actress face?
Pero at the end of it you have to trust yourself at kung mali man yung nagawa mo ang importante alam mo yun at natuto ka.
What do you need in order to become a successful actor?
Discipline. Respect. Training.
What makes a good stage actor in your opinion?
Merong Sense of truth. Knowing yourself and be able to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Be a good human being.
What goal are you working towards within your career and when will you know you have reached it?
As of the moment, I’m still exploring, learning things, and knowing my self more. For now short term goals palang ang sine-set ko like knowing my strengths and weaknesses and focus more on how to improve my craft.
What organizations do you belong to?
I am currently part of Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company.
If you weren’t a stage actor or an artist, what would you want to be? Why?
Journalist I think, just to practice what I have learned in college.
What advice would you give to someone who wanted to do what you do?
Just do what you want and live that dream.
How do you see yourself 20 or 30 yrs from now?
Doing community-based theater in the province
