Exclusively available in Europe, the LG Q8 looks a lot like something we have been familiar with. That’s because it’s basically the LG V20 updated to be water and dust resistant.
The LG Q series was launched back in July as an answer to the mid-range options previously unavailable from the South Korean manufacturer. The Q line is meant to augment options for those looking for specific features without having to break the bank.
If this phone looks extremely familiar to you, the LG Q8 takes a lot of the features from last year’s LG V20 – from the two screens at 5.2-inch QHD front panel and a smaller version on top as a ticker or a task bar that doubles as a power-efficient always-on display for some of the features you might fancy. As a signature take on the mid-range options, the Q8 and its variants will support Quad DAC for the audiophiles.
Processing powers are generous, too with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 under the hood, 4GB of RAM, a base of 32GB of on-board storage with option to expand up to 256GB via the MicroSD slot, and 3,000 mAh of juice.
It features a capable 13MP main camera in standard angle and 8MP secondary camera wide-angle lens and the decent 5MP front-facing selfie shooter. These are all complemented with IP67 water and dust resistance – previously absent from the V20 as a sacrifice for a hot-swappable or removable rear cover and removable battery for those power-hungry users.
If the Q8 is looking dated with the absence of the company’s new display aspect ratio and other technologies. LG was only aiming for options specially if the LG V30 is proving too expensive or has much of what the LG V20 had to offer but just needed a little bit of an update.
The LG Q8 is currently only available in Europe and the hopes of the Q8 series arriving are minimal to almost none since the Philippine market runs differently. To get your hands on one, you will have to ask someone to get it from there then have it shipped.
