Don’t look now but the funniest and wittiest stand-up comedy of 2018 dubbed as Trumperte hits the metro this May 11 and stars the incomparable Jon Santos. As the meme-able title implies, Trumperte is the ultimate political spoof mash-up where you will see Their Excellencies President RonaldMcDonald Trump and Pangulong DuThirty in one night.
At Trumperte, Jon Santos relieves our cultural backlog with this original satirical live show that takes cues from our backlogged license plates, the great number of celebrities and dubious icons grabbing headlines that are so ready for some wicked spoofing. In short, Trumperte is guaranteed to be one brave, explosive and delightfully entertaining show.
At the special press preview held earlier at Guevarra’s Buffet, Jon Santos showed up as the glamorous US First Lady Manilania Trump. With her lovely accented Slovenian accent, Manilania gave a sample of how Trumperte is gonna be like. We laughed our heads off with her every witty parlance and little knowledge of Filipino culture. What more, Manilania also rant about her controversial tweeting husband RonaldMcDonald Trump.
This is just a snippet of the show and after his Manilania appearance, Jon Santos appeared as himself and shared at the presscon how this special project caps his thirty years in the entertainment industry. At the show, he said we should expect the return of his many loveable characters and how they will entertain US First Couple RonaldMcDonald and Manilania Trump.
Try imagining the out of this world questions Syerap would ask? How would Tita Gloring will jam with the Twitter-in-Chief? What about Oprah Winfree tells it all in her own Me-too moment.
In the Philippine scenario, let us catch up on Madame Sen Laylah D and her infamous scarf. What is she up to now?
What about Imelda and how she is gloating from her successful transfer of Ferdie McCoy to the
Libingan ng mga Bayani and predicting the long overdue victory of her son in the VP recount?
Of course, Miss Universe Pia Horseback will be present, matching beauty stats with our Pinoy Superhero aDarna.
The finale will be the much-anticipated superstar of Philippine politics, Pangulong DuThirty who will of course show up with a most unusual surprise and will be under the scrutiny of Anderson Cupal, Christian Inang-Poor and Doris Bigo-na.
But wait there’s more. Jon will also take on the country’s pop-up cultural fixtures like the Koreans in our country, the Emojis all over our text messages, online Krissy Aquino, dancing ala Baby Sharks and the always trending Mukkafrap Puson on revisionist history, revisionist geography and her version of “alternative truth.”
Trumperte is written by Jon Santos, Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado and under the stage direction of Michael Williams. It will premiere on May 11th at Teatrino in Greenhills. Tickets are available at Ticketworld.
