Jollibee and Miss Universe 2017 give JOY this Christmas

A week after the most spectacular coronation night of the most prestigious pageant on the planet,  Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters immediately fulfilled her promise of visiting the Philippines. The reigning Miss Universe and other countries’ titleholders arrived for a week-long tour of the country.

One of the many activities lined up for the confidently beautiful women is to help spread joy to kids in time for the Christmas season.  Jollibee, the Philippines’ #1 fast-food chain, welcomed the universe’s most confidently beautiful women to spend a day of fun, gift-giving and dancing with children from the Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry.


The happy affair was made possible by the Jollibee representatives and the Miss Universe Organization, the 15 titleholders including the reigning Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere and Miss Universe-Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters. Together, they took time from their busy schedule to visit the Jollibee Biopolis branch in Diosadado Macapagal Avenue to spend the day with the children from the Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry in Manila.


Also present were Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart; Miss Universe Organization Vice President for Marketing Shawn McClain; Jollibee Philipines President JJ Alano and senior officials from Jollibee.

The Miss Universe Organization has been known to advocate positive change in the world. For many decades now, they have empowered young women to initiate advocacies in their own communities with the potential to reach a global audience.

During the #BeautiesandtheBee event, each of the 15 Miss Universe titleholder was paired with a young orphan child. You can see the happiness form in each of their faces and the children easily bonded with the girls. They bonded over Jollibee favorites like Chickenjoy, Jolly Spaghetti, Cheesy Yum Burger, Jolly Crispy Fries and Peach Mango Pies. The confidently beautiful women and the children shared stories and enjoyed the performances of the iconic Jollibee mascot and his friends. At the end of the event, the children received cute Jollibee huggable pillows from their beautiful friends.



During the program, Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart shared how happy they are to be back in the country for the second time and be welcomed by the familiar hospitality of the Filipinos. Their partnership with Jollibee is in tune with their advocacy and help in spreading more holiday cheer to the children and brighten up their day.

On the other hand, Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and PH Marketing Head Francis E. Flores said, “We are honored to have the opportunity to team up once again with the prestigious organization in bringing joy to the kids, and we’re especially grateful that these ladies took the time out of their busy schedules to spend time with them.”


One of the highlights of the event is the “Chicken Joy Toast” where all of them posed with Jollibee and the largest bucket of Chicken Joy, which according to an insider holds more than 140 pieces of Chicken Joy.


Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry is a non-profit organization that is based in Malate, Manila where the street children is provided the necessary care, love, protection, rehabilitation and education through first-aid, counselling, health and recreational activities, among others.
