Beating the heat is a constant battle during the scorching summer months in a tropical country like the Philippines. So the question is, how do you work on your beach body? Will you let heat get in the way and make you stop from working out?

Of course, running in humid weather is no fun. A great solution to this is to bring your grueling daily workout indoors. Use the gym facilities and run on the treadmill. If you don’t want to join a gym, then you can make use of any air-conditioned environments at the malls.
If you’re in a public area, simply lace-up your sneakers and walk around briskly. Go up and down the stairs, walk from store-to-store, and swing your arms as you go. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can bring a water bottle and use it to tone your arms as you walk through the mall.
Go out at Night
There are night activities which you can participate in. These include football and badminton games, you can hook and pair up with a friend or ask your office mates if they’d like to join you. The idea is to go out and sweat it out under the stars. Even if it rains, you will still feel better because there’s no need for you to lather on your sunscreen lotion since you do your walk or exercise at night. If you’re not fan of physical sports, you can just schedule your jog to coincide with the later hours. There are places to go to that encourages these kind of activities such as the ones in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) or at the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City. At BGC, there are lots of open spaces that aren’t too crowded. So grab your running shoes, lace up after you clock out from work and run to your heart’s content.
Find the shade
If nighttime exercise is not an option for you, you have to do your best to find some shade. If you are working out in the afternoon, you might have noticed that some areas are always filled with runners or people taking a break—probably because of the area has shade, so you can get there too! You can do your circuit workout in the shade while still feeling the breeze on your skin.
Finally, a good way to stay in shape without having to face the dreaded heat is to stretch your muscles indoors. Allot a few minutes each morning and stretch to get your vibe and start your heart pumping. If you have more time, squeeze in a morning yoga session or a treadmill run. This way, you will be done with your workout by the early part of the day and without having to worry if you have already been active enough.
