How to Be Single and Happy

Hey, are you single? First of all–if so, that’s okay. Actually, that’s awesome. Being single gets a reputation for being a bad thing, but it’s actually really empowering. You don’t NEED other people to make you ~complete~.  You can live your own life! I know that it feels like it’s the end of the world if you’re single, but it’s not! You might want a GF or BF right now, but it’s okay to date yourself for a bit. we promise.

It’s hard to be alone, but you can rock it, if you know how. Just because you’re alone, it doesn’t mean that you have to be lonely. There are a ton of things you can do with yourself. Even things that some people think are “couples only” things. There are little “dates” you can take yourself on in order to proclaim your self-love. If you need some little date ideas for your single self, check out these things you NEED to do if you’re single (in order to be happier), and have fun!

Hang out with a pet

Being alone can suck sometimes, but if you’ve got a pet around, that can totally make your day better. Take your dog for a walk, or hang with your cat. If you don’t have a pet, try going to your local shelter to play with some dogs or cats. They appreciate the love, and are MUCH better than a BF.

Take yourself to a movie

Who says that going to the movies are exclusively a “couple” thing? Yes, you can go to see movies alone, and it’s AWESOME. You are in a dark room and get to be transported into a new world.

Make dinner for yourself

This is a pretty low-key thing to do, but it’s actually a nice thing that you can do for yourself. Why does a dude have to make dinner for you in order for it to be special? Pick out your absolute favorite meal, then learn how to make it! Put on some music so you can dance around in your kitchen, then enjoy your meal feeling accomplished.

Binge a show

We all do this, but it’s okay to make it into a “thing” and spend time binging a show by yourself.  Pick something you’ve never seen before, or maybe a classic show that you love, gather your warmest blankets, and hang!

Plan a Spa Day

Spa days are very underrated. Get a nice face mask from Sephora, make a bath and ~relax~. You deserve it! It’s a good way to unwind and relax after a stressful week and get to pamper yourself. You do NOT need anyone to be there with you.

Go on a picnic

You don’t need a DUDE to take you on a picnic! Take yourself! Grab a book, grab some snacks and, if the weather is nice, head outside for some lunch. It’s fun and easy and will give you a lot of time to hang alone.

Take a nap

Honestly, naps are amazing. We know that couples are really into napping together and all that, but there is nothing quite like taking a long nap by yourself! To be honest, the world sucks right now, and you deserve some sleep

Go Shopping

Shopping cures all! If you’re feeling a little bummed about being alone, or you just want a fancy new outfit, go out shopping. You probably shouldn’t drop hundreds of dollars on a new wardrobe, but buying a little something can be a perfect idea.

Do your makeup

This sound silly, but hear us out. You might be feeling bummed about being alone, but what if you give yourself a fancy makeover? It will help you feel great about yourself AND help sharpen your amazing makeup skills.
