Gerardo Francisco, Jr. also known as “Geri” in the Phillipine Ballet, joined Ballet Manila back in March 2003. Now, Geri is doing a choreo for the incoming season performance of Ballet Manila, entitled: Ibong Adarna. He also got a lot of awards and recognitions, such as: Japan Ballet Competition, Beijing International Ballet & Choreography Competition, World Maskplay Contest, Wifi Body New Choreographers Competition and a lot more.

Tell me something about yourself that people don’t know: I love taking pictures, i love cooking,
What is your current state of mind before we continue with the interview? Excited!
How long have you been dancing and when did you start? I have been dancing for 23 years, i started when i was 13.
Did you go to school to ballet? When i started, No. but, our company invited guest teachers here and abroad.
What do people not know about the world of ballet? That the first ballet dancers are men.
How long did it take you to become a professional danseur? 17 years ago when i went to Ballet Philippines.
Who was your favorite pas de deux partner? Marian Faustino, she is a former ballet manila dancer. Kilala na namin ang galaw ng bawat isa.
What are your favorite shows to see/be in? Don Q, Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, Jiri Kylian shows/choreography for Modern.
Would you do anything differently? if so, what? Cooking, Playing Soccer (somtimes), photography. Eto pag may time ako.
Do you have any tips/advice for aspiring ballerinas? Pursue your dreams, most especially you have to love what you’re doing. We all know that the life of a dancer is very short you have to take care of your body because your body is your instrument.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your career? After my Knee Operation. I got torn meniscus 5 years ago. Kasi you have to start again from zero.
Is there a certain way you and the other dancers have to/want to look? You have to be in shape at all times. Maintaining your figure is very important.
How ballet change your life? It gives me direction in life. Because of ballet i was able to travel abroad and i was exposed to different cultures. I wouldn’t be here today if i didn’t pursue my dance career.
Your the one of the good danseur in Ballet Manila can you tell me hows your experience in being a BM? Hindi Madali pumasok sa ballet world kung ang physique mo ay hindi ideal. In my case, I am not physically gifted. Sa ballet kasi kelangan maganda katawan mo kelangan Perfect ang look mo on stage. So what i did was i really worked hard, aside from the regular dance classes, i did extra work out on my own.
I know you been working with some of the famous and influencial people in the country but may I ask whom do you wish/dream to work with and Why? Jiri Kylian, his works are absolutely brilliant. I would love to dance his piece/s or work with him.
Any upcoming shows of Mr. Geri Francisco and the Ballet Manila? Im doing my choreography of Ibong Adarna and it will be Premiered on August 26,2017 for our Flights of Fantasy Season. Followed by Swan Lake in October, Snow White in November and Ballet and Ballads in February.
How do you see the Ballet industry 10 years from now? Still Existing, hopefully by that time the masses are fully aware of what ballet is.
How do you see yourself 20 or 30 yrs from now? Choreographing and Teaching, hopefully still dancing and to have my own company.
What’s the best advice would you give to those who might want to join the ballet industry? Don’t take ballet as a hobby its a profession that requires discipline , hard work and PASSION.
