December is a wonderful time for a gamer. The month of video game discounts and new game reveals are always a very exciting holiday for us. To celebrate this merry Christmas, we list down the five best games to play this month of December.
Bayonetta 2 (WiiU)
Fun fact: this acclaimed action game was almost doomed to NOT get a sequel until Nintendo provided the funding. Beside that minor setback, Bayonetta 2 is an outstanding sequel, complete with tight controls, and incredibly fun gameplay. Gamers can chain different moves and defeat huge bosses. Almost every fight feels like a cinematic experience that never stops! Plus, the game starts at the middle of the holidays so it’s thematic.
Nier Automata (PC, PS4)
From the genius mind of Yoko Taro comes a dark tale of robots ruling over humanity. In the game, YorHa, the last human organization, created androids to wage war against the machines for the glory of mankind. The Nier series of games are known to be dark and melanchonic. Players are treated with a story that is deeper than what appears in the surface. The game’s branching paths and multiple endings keep the players intrigued of the full story that Nier Automata is trying to convey. It also helps that the game controls well and the characters are really interesting. This game is a must-have for any dark role-playing fans out there.
Tired of the intense action and dark tales from this list? Just relax for a moment and enjoy something slow for once. Dive down through the calming seas as a mysterious diver in Abzu. This oceanic trip takes players in a kaleidoscope of sea life from small tropical fish to massive whales. Searching for mysteries wherever they go. A perfect game for stay-at-home travelers.
Cuphead (PC, Xbox ONE)
Looking for a challenge? Look no further as studio MDHR’s Cuphead can scratch that itch. Inspired from the old 1930’s cartoons, Cuphead is a side-scrolling shooter that is gorgeous and extremely difficult. Following in a traditional boss-rush format, players are fighting opponents ranging from a potato to an angry mermaid. This game can be played alone or with a friend via local co-op.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (WiiU, Nintendo Switch)
What better way to end this list than a grand adventure care of the creators of Zelda’s world? The latest incarnation of the Zelda franchise boasts a large world that players can explore to their hearts content. What better time to come back to this game as Nintendo just announced their latest story available as downloadable content (DLC) this month!
