Auspicious new beginnings with timeless traditions brought abundance as the Two-Time Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award Winner Marco Polo Ortigas Manila welcomes the coming of the Earth Dog during the Lunar New Year.
In celebration of the coming of the 11th sign in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac, hotel festivities commenced during the exact Lunar New Year, February 16, with the presence of the International Feng Shui expert, Marites Allen, for that stroke of good luck. The management gathered with guests to celebrate the auspicious season. Traditional eye-dotting were headed by Marites Allen, co-owner of the hotel, Victor Co, and General Manager Frank Reichenbach.
To send away wishes for the new year, guests were given red and gold balloons to write down their hearts’ desires, which were released afterwards.
The lion and the dragons danced their way throughout the hotel as they shower each restaurant and floor with lucky coins and golden chocolates. All areas hanged their ang pao and bokchoy for the dragons to eat for luck and fortune.
After luck has been spread out throughout the hotel, the celebration began at the hotel’s award-winning Cantonese restaurant, Lung Hin, starting with the traditional Prosperity Toss with Salmon Yu Sheng. The colourful salad symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and vigor―the three important elements for a good year. The guests then enjoy their lunch featuring the signature dishes from the new well-defined menu that brings a flavourful experience at each dine.
