The much awaited update to Android 7.0 Nougat for Zenfone 3 users has finally gone live.
How to Install
Getting the update over-the-air (OTA) should be as easy as going into the settings menu, and locating and clicking on “update my device” at the very bottom of the page. This will download the update for you in the background as you go about your daily tasks.Just make sure you are connected to WiFi as the update will eat up on your data allowance.
Do remember to charge your device up to about 80% before allowing the install to commence. After the download has completed, it should be as simple as clicking “install” and the phone will do the rest for you.
This comes after Asus released the beta program to willing tributes around late last year to Zenfone 3 5.2 and Zenfone 3 5.5 users. The volunteers were given early access to the changes that Asus was trying to make in their version of ZenUI 3.0 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat.
Supported devices include the mid-ranged flagship phones the Zenfone 3 5.2 and the Zenfone 3 5.5.
The Waiting Game
There is still no news of whether other devices like the Max, the Laser, the Ultra and the Deluxe will also be getting the same update. We’re hoping they can support the full-line up as well as everyone deserves getting only the best from Asus.
What You Get
The main takeaway from updating to the latest software comes in the form of security patches directly from Google. Other features include battery optimization (in the form of Doze), performance optimization, and a split-screen among other tweaks. If past updates are any indication, it will be the same Asus flavor of the skin heavy UI with standard bloatware in tow.
Asus PH is also giving away 10 Zenfone 3 clear cases (5 for ZF3 5.2 and 5 for ZF3 5.5) if you like and share their post located on their Facebook page here.
