2017 Watchlist: Romantic Movies to Swoon Over This Year

It’s going to be awesome for the romantics this year. From rom-coms to Disney characters brought to life, 2017 has an array of romantic movies that will get you saying ‘aww’. We’ve mustered a list of 2017 love-themed flicks for you to watch out for.

Everybody Loves Somebody

If you’re into happy love triangles, then this movie is for you. Clara is a successful career-woman with just love missing in her life. She asks her colleague to be her pretend boyfriend for a wedding she must attend in Mexico. Everything gets more complicated as she runs into her ex-boyfriend who wants to rekindle things with her. Coming to the big screen on February 14, Everybody Loves Somebody is one good option for a Valentine’s movie date.

Beauty and the Beast

After the long wait, Disney finally announces Emma Watson’s playing Belle in the live action adaptation of this Disney classic. One of the most awaited movies this year, Beauty and the Beast is set for release on March 17.

Tulip Fever

Set in 17th century Amsterdam where an artist falls in love with a married woman while painting a portrait of her with her husband. From the novel by Deborah Moggach starring Alicia Vikander, Dane Dehaan, Zach Galifianakis, Cara Delevingne, and Christoph Waltz. Tulip Fever debuts on February 24.

Table 19

Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, Craig Robinson, June Squibb, and Stephen Merchant star in this romantic comedy about weddings. Kendrick plays the wedding guest who was just dumped by the bride’s brother. Table 19 comes to the cinema on March 3.

Fifty Shades Darker

Christian and Ana come together once again in this racy sequel of the Fifty Shades Trilogy by E.L. James. Back with spicier twists including a woman obsessed with Christian and a new boss who gets too personal with Ana. Fifty Shades Darker will be released on February 10.

The Lovers

A story about a long-married and totally detached husband and wife. Both are in serious affairs and getting more and more devoted to their new partners. As they are about to break up, a spark between them unexpectedly rekindles. A romantic comedy for couples of all ages.

The Space Between Us

A futuristic story about a boy who lives on Mars who finds friendship online with a girl from Earth. He is then permitted to visit Earth and meet her as he turned 16. He soon discovers that his organs cannot survive Earth’s atmosphere. Coming to the big screen on February 3.

My Cousin Rachel

A young Englishman’s plans of revenge against his cousin gets complicated as he finds himself falling for her. Starring Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin, from the 1951 novel by Daphne du Maurier, set for release on July 14.

The Resurrection of Gavin Stone

A story of love and redemption where an actor performs community service in a church. He then finds himself getting attached to the people there. Starring Brett Dalton coming to cinemas on January 20.

Lady Macbeth

Following the story of a young woman forced to marry a much older man set in the 19th century. She starts an affair with another man and everything gets thorny. Coming to the big screen on June 2.
